Steps for Closing the General Ledger to End the Accounting Period

Closing the accounting period is a critical part of accounting. Until accounts are frozen in time, by closing the general ledger, there is no way to measure the performance of a company. Periodically, closing the general ledger give the company a clean slate for the next period and allows financial measurement of the recently ended period.
