…It isn’t easy and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. However, it is true that anyone can earn money from blogging.
I was looking for a way to feature my latest eHow Business and Personal Finance article on successful blogging, but didn’t know how best to approach the subject. Mostly because Smart Family Finance is in its infancy and only nets 20 to 30 hits a day. I’ve made thousands from writing online, although nothing from Smart Family Finance. Then I saw Dough Roller’s article on earning money blogging.
DR equated successful blogging to three key steps: Subject matter, content and marketing. From my experience, content and marketing are equally important.
For content, you should write something that entices readers to come back on a regular basis. This means: finding interesting topics and posting often. You should spend as much time as possible in the content area, which makes marketing very difficult.
Marketing in the blogging world means networking. Visit other sites regularly, comment at those sites, email the authors and get on facebook and twitter. You have to, literally, show people the door to your site. With any luck, you readers will stay with you and the income will flow down from blogger heaven.
The problem is that you are too busy creating great content to market your blog and this where most bloggers get hung up. Becoming a successful blogger can take a large investment of time and effort, which is why few make large amounts of money blogging.
However, even small bloggers can earn a little money. The question is, will it be you?
